Jack Flotte
I was fascinated by history as a kid, and drew battle scenes with soldiers, cannons, ships, and lots of blood and mayhem. I also remember trying to draw baseball players and struggling with their postures. So I studied art & ceramics at the University of Denver and the University of Colorado, and art conservation at NYU. Major influences were cartoonists like James Gillray, George Herriman, and R. Crumb. All I ever wanted to do was draw people--I still can't draw landscapes, animals, or furniture.
